WELCOME,

The Kamloops Self Advocate newsletter is a disability awareness and success stories newsletter covering all disabilities including but not limited to mental health issues. I was born with intellectual disabilities and an anxiety disorder myself. I live in Kamloops BC Canada. I am 29 years old. I always wanted to give back to society and to people with disabilities for a long time. That’s why I started the newsletter when I was 22. I wanted to stomp out stigma and discrimination but I wanted to do it in a positive way. So most stories are written by me and others who have disabilities so people can see what we can do, not what we can’t do. We have more abilities than disabilities and we have humor too. So the newsletter is filled with positive stories, jokes and riddles to start people’s day off on a positive note. It’s been very successful and I have been in business for over 5 years now. I love my work. It’s a small home based business but it’s free online and offline with paid advertisements inside.

People have commented their dismay about my capabilities of running my own business with having a disability myself. My mom was told I would never be able to read or write, but I was determined to do so. I am now a fluent reader, writer and speller. I work at improving my skills everyday. I have minimal support with editing and deliveries. I was always told I could do anything I wanted with the right supports in place. So I surround myself with supportive people who have my future goals in mind and we all work together to meet them. Check out my newsletter at https://selfadvocatenet.com/kamloops-self-advocate-newsletter/ My work e-mail address is thekamloopsselfadvocate@yahoo.com

I would love to hear from anyone including reporters who are interested in how I have made this business possible despite my own personal challenges. And anyone interested in receiving my newsletter, please reach out to me also.
